The Los Angeles Dodgers have been struggling with the health of their players all season, so it is unsurprising that they dominate today's injury updates. The World Series contenders have received some positive news regarding two of their injured stars. That being said, they may have lost another player due to injury.

Here's a closer look a today's injury updates from across the MLB.

MLB Injury Updates for July 5

Max Muncy

It may be some time before Los Angeles Dodgers fans see Max Muncy back on the field. That being said, manager Dave Roberts provided an injury update regarding the slugger's oblique.

Muncy has begun swinging off of a tee, but Roberts said he is progressing slowly. He will likely be sidelined longer than the minimum stint on the 60-day IL.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Dave Roberts also provided an update on injured rookie sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto. According to the Dodgers manager, the young pitcher will begin playing catch at some point next week. He remains without a concrete timeline to return to the rotation.

Jason Heyward

The third Los Angeles Dodgers to appear in today's injury updates is Jason Heyward.

The veteran outfielder was forced to exit Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with an apparent knee injury. He will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

Anthony Rendon

Polarizing third baseman Anthony Rendon is continuing to ramp up activity as he looks to return from a left hamstring strain.

Rendon is set to take live batting practice on Friday and Saturday before potentially being activated from the 60-day IL as early as Monday.

Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas could soon begin a minor-league assignment.

Casas, who has been out of action since April 21 with a rib injury, has been participating in swinging in the batting cage. While he has yet to face live on-field batting practice, there is belief that he could begin a rehab assignment in as little as two weeks.
