The Los Angeles Dodgers splurged big this offseason to compete for the World Series title. They're still on track, but they're not the dominant team everyone expected. They don't have the best record in baseball or even the National League.
To fix the holes that have popped up in their lineup and make their overall roster stronger, they are expected to be active at the trade deadline. When they do, these three players are likely to land in new places.
Three Dodgers who might move after the trade deadline
3) James Outman
It has been a disastrous year for James Outman, but it's not too late for the player. He showed promise last year and could benefit from a change of scenery. Sometimes, blockbuster deals require MLB talent rather than prospects, and Outman would be a major haul for any rebuilding team.
The Dodgers might want to go after Luis Robert, Bo Bichette, Mason Miller, or someone of that caliber. If they do, Outman would go a long way to tipping the scales, even if he's been a negative fWAR player this year.
2) Diego Cartaya
Diego Cartaya used to be a top prospect in the Dodgers organization, but he has fallen since. Nevertheless, he is still their seventh overall prospect. He plays a position that won't be necessary for a while, though.
The catcher would likely sit behind Will Smith for at least a decade and the Dodgers' top prospect, Dalton Rushing, also plays behind the plate. He is suddenly a luxury the team doesn't really need, so expect him to be considered in any trades the team makes.
1) Nick Frasso
Nick Frasso is the Dodgers' top pitching prospect. He also happens to be pretty close to MLB-ready. That likely makes him the centerpiece of any major blockbuster trade.
The Dodgers might want to shore up the outfield, shortstop, or bullpen by this trade deadline. To get talent, they're going to have to give. Unless they trade for someone like Mason Miller, it likely won't cost their best prospects, though number three prospect Frasso is still a major headliner.
