Nestor Cortés Jr. is a Cuban-American professional Major League Baseball player. He currently plays the position of a pitcher for the New York Yankees. He is also known by his nicknames ‘Nasty Nestor’ and ‘the Hialeah Kid’. He was born in Surgidero de Batabanó, Cuba but moved to the USA when he was only seven months old.
The pitcher was chosen by the New York Yankees in the 2013 MLB draft. He was picked in the 36th round as the 1094th overall selection. He made his professional debut under the Yankees' organization in 2013, showcasing his skills in the Gulf Coast League as a Rookie. However, he didn't manage to make his Major League debut with the Yankees. Cortés was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles after being selected in the 2017 Rule 5 draft from the Yankees organization. He made his Major League debut with the Orioles in 2018. Cortés played phenomenally in the 2022 season and made it to the All-Star team in the same year.
