For pitcher Joe Kelly and his family, his World Series win this fall is still top of mind. Recently, Kelly's wife Ashley incorporated her husband's victory with her son's own heroics, and posted the results to social media as proof.
Over the weekend, Ashley took to Instagram to show off her son Knox's football game. Clad in game-ready gear, the tyke posed proudly for his mother's social media account. In addition to an image of Knox celebrating with his teammates, Ashley also caught a shot of her daughter cheering on her brother.
The sister of former Minnesota Twins catcher Derek Parks, Ashley Parks met Joe Kelly while the pair were attending the University of California at Riverside. A former varsity soccer player, she and Kelly are proud parents to Knox, as well as a set of twins.
After Shohei Ohtani announced his intention to come to the Dodgers, the Japanese superstar gifted Ashley Kelly a Porsche. The gesture came as a result of Ashley's #Ohtake17 campaign, which lobbied the star to sign a deal in Los Angeles in return for taking her husband's jersey number 17.
"Incredible. Shohei Ohtani gifted Joe Kelly’s wife a Porsche as a thank you for his number 17." - Ben Verlander
Having made his MLB debut for the 2012 St. Louis Cardinals, Kelly has pitched for the Dodgers since 2023. The 36-year-old Kelly was part of the Dodgers' roster that won the 2020 World Series. In 35 appearances in the 2024 season, the right-hander pitched to a 1-1 record, 4.38 ERA, and fired 35 strikeouts throughout 32 innings. However, injuries kept Kelly out of the 2024 postseason.
Joe Kelly knows what made his team successful in 2024
Although he did not get a chance to play in the postseason, Joe Kelly understood what made his club so successful. As he told The Score:
"Look at the team, look at the talent, we go through numerous scouting reports. We pay attention to every single detail. We have a lot of big superstars in our clubhouse, but our superstars also care and aren't lazy and play hard. That's the difference and the biggest separator."
Despite being in the twilight of his career, Kelly has given his family a lot to be proud of. Now, he is taking in the offseason as a champion.
