For more than forty years, Scott Boras has been building a name for himself as one of the top baseball agents in history. Credited with negotiating tens of billions of dollars in contracts, Boras represents some of the biggest names in the game today.

Ahead of the Mets' game at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, Boras was spotted chatting with David Stearns. Stearns, who has served as the president of baseball operations for the Mets since last fall, appeared interested in Scott Boras' points.

Predictably, the dissemination of the video sparked interest among fans. As Boras represents Juan Soto and Pete Pete Alonso - two of the top players on the Yankees and New York Mets, respectively, imaginations ran wild. Several fans took to X to offer their takes on what might be under discussion.

Many of the comments pertained to Juan Soto, who has been a client of Scott Boras since making his MLB debut in 2018. Soon after Soto arrived in the Bronx via a trade with the San Diego Padres last season, he inked a one-year, $30 million deal. Now, Boras will be on the hook to help negotiate Soto's deal for 2025 and beyond.

Comments hinting at a Soto deal with the Mets were as follows:

"Telling him uncle Stevie got the bag ready for Soto" - said one fan
"The guy said we should buy Soto expensively." - chirped another
"Talking Soto" - guessed yet another commenter

Moreover, a good few comments related to New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, another client of Boras'. Even though Alonso has hit 105 home runs since the start of 2022, the Mets are hesitant to sign him long-term. As such, other comments suggested that Alonso could have been at the center of the discussion between Scott Boras and David Stearns.

"Give us Soto for 15 years and then will keep Pete." - was a fan's input
“We’ll give Pete 5 years 75 M best we can do” - was another comment
Another fan claimed "Boras begging for 140 million for Pete"

Scott Boras will drive a hard bargain for Juan Soto

With his deal with the New York Yankees set to expire at the end of the year, Juan Soto is sure to become a hot-name free agent. In recent comments to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Boras touted Soto's draw:

"When you represent players who I call 'centurions' where you can say that they will be among the top 100 players to ever play this game, when you represent them you don’t worry about the cost of them for a franchise because they increase the franchise value of the team,"

While it remains to be seen if David Stearns and the Mets will be interested, the next several months will likely consist of a lot of these kinds of discussions for both Boras and Stearns.
