Houston Astros shortstop Alex Bregman has expressed his delight at the team re-signing pitcher Cristian Javier to a long-term deal. Bregman hailed Javier's leadership skills and said he could not wait to get back on the pitch with him.

Bregman also made a special mention of Javier's no-hitters, including the one that came up clutch in the World Series.

"Oh it's so exciting for this fanbase, for everyone, for the city," Bregman was quoted as saying by Mark Berman of FOX 26. "We got an incredible young starting pitcher who is a leader on the mound. He goes out there and gets the job done for us. He threw a no-hitter, two no-hitters last year. One in the World Series, right when we needed it the most."

Bregman went on to commend Javier for being a wonderful teammate. He re-stressed what a great signing this was and that the city of Houston should be pumped.

"He's a great teammate, a great guy, hard worker, I'm super happy for him, for his family, and for the city of Houston, and Astros fans, everywhere because we got a really good one," Bregman concluded.

Alex Bregman is the leader in postseason home runs and runs batted in for a third baseman

Alex Bregman was selected by the organization with the second overall pick in the 2015 MLB draft. He made his major league debut at third base against the New York Yankees on July 25, 2016.

Lauded for his bat speed, ability to make frequent contact, instincts at shortstop, strong arm, and smart baserunning, Bregman has been an instrumental part of two title-winning Houston Astros sides in the past few years.

He made his breakthrough in 2018 as he led the American League in doubles and was named MVP of the All-Star Game. Bregman won the 2019 American League Silver Slugger Award at third base and holds a unique record of being the all-time leader in postseason home runs (15) and runs batted in (47) for a third baseman in baseball history.
