Things keep getting better and better for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Over the weekend, it was announced that the team signed All-Star closer Tanner Scott to a four-year, $72 million contract.

Scott was one of the best free-agent reliever options on the market, but they did not stop there. L.A. reportedly has reached a tentative deal with free-agent closer Kirby Yates.

Yates spent the 2024 season with the Texas Rangers and did well. He appeared in 61 games, compiling a 1.17 ERA with 85 strikeouts on 61.2 innings of action.

There is no question that the Dodgers have had yet another excellent offseason. Their fanbase cannot wait for the 2025 season to get underway while fans of other teams are starting to get frustrated as they add player after player.

"Andrew Friedman just doesn't quit" one fan posted.
"The Dodgers spending more money and trying to buy another championship. This league is a joke" said another.
"Yeah.. Boycott Major League Baseball" said another.

It is tough for fans of other teams to sit by and watch L.A. add All-Star after All-Star with relative ease. Some are considering skipping out on the 2025 season entirely.

"This is getting disgusting" said another.
"Sign them all! Let's go" said another.
"This simulation rocks" said another.

Injuries may have pushed Dodgers to sign Kirby Yates

Michael Kopech was a player that helped the Dodgers last season. He was acquired from the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline and went on to make some appearances out of the bullpen.

Unfortunately, the hard-throwing righty may miss the start of the season. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Kopech could miss the first month of the season with an undisclosed injury.

The team will likely also be without Brusdar Graterol for a much longer chunk of the 2025 season. After undergoing shoulder surgery, it is expected that Graterol will be unavailable for the first half of the season.

Graterol appeared in just seven games last season as he had trouble with a torn labrum. With his ceiling, the front office likely will not look at rushing him back onto the mound, and could miss more than just the first half.

With all the questions surrounding their bullpen, L.A. added pieces to fill its holes, even if it costs the team a hefty tax penalty as it is in the final tier of luxury tax penalization.
