Mookie Betts and Mike Trout have arrived to join Team USA as they prepare for the World Baseball Classic. The tournament kicks off on Tuesday night at 11 p.m. Eastern time zone with Cuba taking on the Netherlands.
Team USA has a good chance of making it out of Pool C. Team Mexico, Columbia and Canada will try their hardest to keep Team USA down. But with USA's roster, that will be easier said than done.
They have an outfield consisting of Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, Cedric Mullins and Kyle Tucker. On top of that, they have the great Ken Griffey Jr. as their hitting coach.
They're some of the greatest outfielders in the game, getting advice from one of the greatest outfielders of all time. The rest of the field better watch out.
"That's as American as it gets," one fan tweeted.
"I just got the chills," another fan tweeted.
Some fans wouldn't mind seeing Griffey as the team's designated hitter. They are certain he's still got some left in the tank.
Between Trout, Betts and Ken Griffey Jr., there's a laundry list of accomplishments. Team USA couldn't have picked a better hitting coach for this tournament.
Can Mike Trout and Mookie Betts carry this team to another WBC title?
Team USA has a star-studded lineup. Aside from Mookie Betts and Mike Trout in the outfield, they have Kyle Tucker and Cedric Mullins. Tucker knows how to win big games, as he and the Houston Astros dominated the league last season.
The infield is led by one of the best catchers in all of baseball, J.T. Realmuto. Not only will he make it tough for any runner to steal a base, but he's also a threat himself on the basepaths. He won't think twice about stealing a base with his speed.
To add to their speedy lineup, Trea Turner will get the bulk of the work at shortstop. Not only does he have elite speed, but he's also one of the best shortstops in all of baseball.
Another player that makes this roster scary is Nolan Arenado. Arenado is a seven-time All-Star who's coming off one of his best seasons at the plate. He'll be a powerful bat in the middle of their order.
Team USA has what it takes to make a deep run and capture their second World Baseball Classic title. if they do, they'll tie Samurai Japan as the only teams with multiple titles.
