Bryce Harper on Phillies culture leading them to success ahead of the All-Star Game
The Philadelphia Phillies man played first base for the National League team in this year's Mid Summer Classic game. That came after he received most votes to play the position.
On the eve of the game, Harper told FOX Sports Crew, which included Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez and Kevin Burkhardt, about the Phillies culture.
“I’m so grateful for where I am right now. On a team, a place, a clubhouse and everything else. And all the players I’m around. It’s not just me on the team.
"It’s not just Bryce Harper. It’s everybody, and we are such a good team with hanging out going to dinner," Harper said.
The first baseman went on to appreciate Phillies baseball president Dave Dombrowski for bringing in the right players and having the World Series mindset every year.
“When the culture is good in the clubhouse there’s nothing better and Dave Dombrowski brings in the right guys no matter what," Harper said.
"I got chills because I know exactly what Dave wants to do. He wants to win, and it’s not just this year. Is it World Series or bust? No, it’s World Series every year. That’s what the mindset is.”
Good for Phillies, Harper is signed to a 13 year, $330 million contract and is in the sixth year of his contract. Moreover, this could be the season where Harper wins his first World Series, as the Phillies are looking like the best team entering the All-Star break.
