Next season, the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will play a game at one of NASCAR's most historic tracks, Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS). This is just the latest in MLB's expansion to playing overseas and in unique venues.
Commissioner Rob Manfred and Speedway Motor CEO Marcus Smith are expected to make an announcement at the track on Friday, per The Athletic. The track rarely holds events outside of NASCAR, so this will be something fans will not want to miss.
In 2016, the track hosted an NCAA football game when Tennessee and Virginia Tech squared off. The game drew a crowd of 156,990, which is the largest crowd to attend an NCAA football game.
Seeing this many baseball fans at the game next year might crush MLB's attendance record. It was last set in 2008 during a March matchup between the Boston Red Sox and LA Dodgers.
When will the Braves and Reds play each other at BMS?
Since the MLB has yet to announce the Braves and Reds game at Bristol Motor Speedway, there is no concrete date set. However, it can be speculated when these two teams could play.
The two clubs play two series next season. One May 5-8 and the other, Aug. 1-3. Many insiders have pointed to the teams' shared off day on July 31 as a sign that the game could be on Aug. 1.
That would be ideal, given the latest injury to Atlanta star Ronald Acuna Jr. He tore his ACL back in May and has hopes to return at the start of the 2025 season, but that could be pushing it.
For more details on the event, baseball and NASCAR fans will want to tune into the BMS's news conference on Friday.
