Cincinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz has impressed since his promotion to the majors in June 2023. He has garnered quite a fan following, a glimpse of which fans got to see on Wednesday night.

The team hosted De La Cruz's Bobblehead night, giving away bobbleheads of the Dominican star to fans at the stadium, which attracted large crowds at Great American Ball Park. A picture shared by Talkin’ Baseball on X/Twitter showed the large number of fans waiting in queues to enter the stadium.

The bobblehead shows Elly De La Cruz wearing the special Reds City Connect jersey which was part of a larger Nike and Major League Baseball program to celebrate the connection between teams and their cities. It was first introduced in May 2023.

This is the fourth 2024 bobblehead featuring a Reds player in the City Connect uniform, following Jake Fraley, Matt McLain and Alexis Diaz. De La Cruz has had a mixed 2024 season so far, batting .228 with a .311 on-base percentage and a decent OPS of .724.
