Cleveland Guardians manager Terry Francona is no stranger to spring training. Francona has played nine years in the league as a player, and this will be his 23rd season as a manager.

However, he's off to a bit of a rough start this year. He was soaking wet from sweat while giving his annual team speech. He skipped dinner with his coaches, instead making pasta for himself that didn't cook properly, resulting in him chipping his tooth. To top it all off, when he arrived at camp at 3:30 am, he spilled coffee all over his speech.

Not everything was bad, though. Francona got his message across. The chipped tooth and spilled coffee on his speech didn't affect the points he wanted to make for his team. He's here, he's healthy, and he's ready to go to work and bring Cleveland another division championship.

Last season, the Cleveland Guardians finished with a 92-70 record, cruising past the Chicago White Sox. They should be an even better team in 2023 with the acquisition of first baseman Josh Bell.

"There's coffee on his speech already, hard spaghetti," one fan tweeted.
"Iconic," said another fan.

This just proves that everyone gets nervous. Francona has been doing this for 23 years now, and he still gets nervous at the start of the season.

You often don't hear much about managers, especially when the news sheds them in this light. But Francona doesn't care; he'll be the first to laugh at himself.

Aside from signing first baseman Josh Bell, they also signed catcher Mike Zunino. The former Florida Gator is known for having a good amount of power. In 2021, when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Rays, he hit a career-high 33 home runs.

They'll have a solid offense behind Zunino, Bell, and the always-dangerous Jose Ramirez. This might be the year Ramirez finally wins that illustrious AL MVP Award.

Even with the power bats they have in their lineup, their pitching may carry them. Triston McKenzie is growing into a Cy Young-quality pitcher. The same could be said for Shane Bieber as well.

It doesn't stop with the starters for this team either. James Karinchak is a pitcher no batter enjoys facing, and Emmanuel Clase is one of the best relief pitchers in baseball. Don't sleep on the Cleveland Guardians this season.
