The Colorado Rockies have extended manager Bud Black's contract through the 2024 season. Black himself announced it early Wednesday morning at Rockies camp.

Black has been with the team since 2017, bringing them a 417-453 record.

It's no secret that Colorado is not one of the top destinations to play. Pitchers fear playing there as the high altitude makes for less effective breaking balls. Balls also fly further in Colorado than anywhere else.

In 2022, Black managed Colorado to their worst record since 2015. It was the fourth season in a row that they have failed to make the postseason. There's not a lot to be excited about when it comes to this team.

"WHY, he was 649-713 with the Padres and is 417-453 with the Rockies. Time to go in a different direction," one fan explained.
"No expectations and you get to keep your job? Good for him," another fan tweeted.

Some Colorado Rockies fans wanted the team to move on from Black.

Other fans don't think the problems lie with Black but with team owner Richard Monfort. They think he's the reason the organization has been in the dumps recently.

It's not easy being the Colorado Rockies

No other team that is a part of Major League Baseball has to deal with what the Colorado Rockies have to deal with every year. They are shackled by their location.

Earlier, it was mentioned that pitchers don't like pitching in Colorado. Well, hitters don't like signing there either. It's hard for hitters to adjust to stadiums outside of Coors Field after spending half of their season watching the ball fly there.

Another thing holding the Rockies back is having to play in the National League West. Every year, they have to compete with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants.

It's a tough division to compete in. The Dodgers and Padres have looked like juggernaut teams recently, and you can never count out the Giants. It's hard to build momentum when much of your season is surrounded by these teams.

Given how little they have improved this winter, it's looking like it will be another year of mediocrity in Colorado, unfortunately.
