Tigers’ Tarik Skubal opens up about winning the Triple crown

Tarik Skubal has become the first pitcher to win the Triple Crown since it was last achieved by Shane Bieber in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. Discussing his accomplishment, Skubal said (via MLB.com):

“That's pretty cool, to accomplish something like that. But what I'm most proud about is that we're in the playoffs. That's more fun than winning a Triple Crown. That's kind of how I feel about it."

The Detroit Tigers are going to the playoffs after finishing the regular season with 86 wins and 76 losses. They have ended a long stretch of not making the playoffs by recording their first winning season since 2016.

The Tigers will start their first playoff series on Tuesday against the Houston Astros.
