Fans reacted as the Los Angeles Dodgers dropped their second straight game against the Houston Astros. They fought hard, but the result remained the same, losing 7-6 at Minute Maid Park on Saturday. With the loss, Dave Roberts' team dropped to 62-44 while the home team improved to 55-49.
The Dodgers received a good start, with no runs being scored in the first five innings. However, the Astros scored four in the sixth and three more in the last two innings to walk it off in the end.
Fans weren't happy with the result, as their fears turned true.
"The Dodgers absolutely imploded," one fan commented.
"Wasted an Ohtani masterclass," wrote one fan in reference to Shohei Ohtani going 2-3 including an home run.
"You spent a billion dollars on hitting and didn't do a damn thing about your pathetic bullshit pitching. @MagicJohnson I thought you liked winning my guy???" another fan tagged LA based NBA legend for answers.
The uproar from Dodgers fans continued:
"What a brutal breakdown by the bullpen. That’s what happens when they have to pitch way too many innings during the first half because of a depleted rotation," one fan took a shot at the team's depleted starting rotation.
"Yall are actually embarrassing," another posted.
"DODGERS WASHEDDDD," another commented.
Dodgers' depleted rotation results in bullpen exploding, Alex Bregman hits a walk-off home run
Owing to injuries to key starters for the Dodgers, the bullpen has been tasked with taking care of the bulk of the innings in the absence of experienced and reliable starters. Justin Wrobleski started well but gave up a flurry of hits before exiting the sixth inning, allowing multiples and leaving a man on base.
Evan Phillips, who replaced him, didn't help much and instead gave up four consecutive hits, resulting in four runs being scored. Anthony Banda came in to get the final out but the damage was already done, as the 5-0 lead was cut short to 5-4 by the end of six innings.
The Astros tied the game in the eighth with the help of a Jon Singleton RBI single. Astros closer Josh Hader made quick work of the Dodgers in the ninth, giving Houston an opportunity to win the game. Matched up against Blake Treinen, Alex Bregman hit a walk-off home run to left field to hand the Dodgers another defeat.
