Fans do not think the Toronto Blue Jays deserve to be in the top 10 Power Rankings list: "Jays should be in the bottom 5 not top 10"

On May 22, the MLB released its Power Rankings for the week. Although not too much has changed since the release of the last such list, some changes have sparked some controversy among fans.

With a record of 34-14, the Tampa Bay Rays top the Power Rankings as well as the overall standings in the MLB. After the Rays, the LA Dodgers and Atlanta Braves, both of whom are leading their division by considerable margins, round out the top three.

"The AL East is making moves. Who's in your top 10?" - MLB

However, the inclusion that seems to have MLB fans on Twitter most up in arms is the Toronto Blue Jays, who have snuck on to the Power Rankings list in the ninth place.

Despite a promising start to the season, the Toronto Blue Jays now find themselves in the last spot in the AL East division. The team's prospects were not helped after they sustained a sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles this week, who are a fierce divisional rival.

The Jays 25-22 record is a testament to the competitiveness of the AL East division. All five AL East teams have been included in the list, with the Boston Red Sox coming in at 10th.

Although the Red Sox have just one game over the Blue Jays, many MLB fans believe that the Sox should be placed higher. Despite losing key parts of their team like JD Martinez and Xander Bogaerts, the Red Sox have found a way to get it done, and boast the third-best batting average in the MLB.

Conversely, the Blue Jays fail to crack the top 10 in the league in any stat, defensive or offensive. Some of the best Blue Jays players are in a serious slump, with former AL home run champ Vladimir Guerrero hitting just .192 in his past seven appearances, and star starter Alek Manoah nursing an ERA well over 5.00 in the month of May.

MLB Power Rankings are still very much subject to change

While it might be true that the Blue Jays are slumping, that may not be the case in a week or a month. The New York Yankees, who were all but written off, have regained some of their strength, and have pushed forward to a 8-2 record over their past 10 games. While the Power Rankings may be a solid snapshot into current events, they are not to be perceived as any sort of permanent indication.
