Bryce Harper is dealing with a hamstring issue after running to first base on Thursday, June 27. The Philadelphia Phillies star is likely to miss a significant chunk of time as hamstring issues can be rather debilitating for MLB players. The injury changes the perspective of the Phillies, who own baseball's best record right now.

James Setzer of Philly's 94 WHIP radio show admitted that he was "bummed" by Harper's hamstring issue. He said:

"This has been a magical year, for the team and also for him. He just got selected to the freakin' All-Star game yesterday and yet again, he's not going to be playing in the All-Star game as a Phillie."

Setzer noted that Harper was on pace to contend for his third MVP award and a potentially special season. The host reiterated how upset he was over this development and what it meant for the player and the team.

Setzer went on to say that this feels catastrophic for the Phillies:

"I know it's certainly not the end of the season, but it certainly feels like the end of the best season we've ever seen from the Phillies. The end of the magic and certainly the first sign of something where maybe this season isn't going to go the way you want it to."

There's no timetable, but hamstring issues take a few weeks at the very least, and that's assuming it's just a minor strain and not something much more significant.

Bryce Harper doesn't quite know what to expect with this hamstring issue. The first baseman felt it go late in a game against the Miami Marlins, and he could be facing a lengthy IL stint.

This is a first for Harper, who said he hadn't yet felt anything like this via CBS Sports:

"If I had something to go back on, I would let you know. But I've never felt anything like this before."

Harper was having a phenomenal season, slashing .303/.399/.582 with 20 home runs and 58 RBI in 76 games. He was also the runner-up in the NL MVP odds behind Shohei Ohtani.
