Anthony Volpe is rising through the ranks very quickly with the Yankees organization. Former two-time World Series champion and Yankee legend Willie Randolph joined the Yankees' spring training sessions as a special instructor and immediately took a liking to Volpe.

Randolph was quick to pass an invigorating judgment on Anthony Volpe. Randolph is overseeing the roster and helping non-roster players train for their Cactus League games, and he has been highly impressed with the work of Volpe.

Anthony Volpe is not a big, strong guy. He will catch your attention with the way he plays. If you've ever coached, Volpe is the kind of player you've always wanted. He will be noted for his enthusiasm, his defensive movements and speech, his intensity in the batter's box, and his ability to read the situation.

"Anthony Volpe has arrived in the Grapefruit League. MLB's No. 5 prospect logs two hits, two steals (one to beat a pitchout!) in his first action of 2023 for the Yankees" - MLBPipeline

He approaches things with a sense of urgency. At a distance, he gives off the appearance that he just cares about winning a baseball game.

Anthony Volpe is Pegged to be the Next Star for the Bronx Bombers

Anthony Volpe performed admirably against the Tigers in his first start at second base. He had only two outings in the major leagues in 2021, one each for Low-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley.

Three ground balls that came Volpe's way in his five innings of play were turned into outs. With one out and Jonathan Davis trying to score from third base on a ground ball, he impressively shot down a runner at the plate.

Volpe has taken advantage of his above-average speed to steal 33 and 50 bases over the past two seasons. Volpe is not a burner, but once he reaches the majors, his instincts and talent could help him rise to the top ranks of baserunners. The Yankees have placed a strong emphasis on base stealing in their development system.
