Fans reacted as Alex Bregman might not re-sign with the Houston Astros, as his negotiations with the club have "stalled," according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. The third baseman was reportedly offered a six year, $156 million deal this offseason, but Bregman and his agent Scott Boras think they deserve over $200 million.

Rome also said that the Astros GM Dana Brown has "pivoted" their offseason plans after things didn't move ahead with Bregman. Brown reportedly said that they made a "competitive offer" to Bregman's camp but didn't mention whether they increased their previous reported offer.

Fans shared their reactions on whether Alex Bregman is worth chasing after.

"Good for Dana Brown, let another #MLB team negotiate against themselves when dealing with Scott Boras. Astros are a better team for less money than what Bregman wanted," one fan commented.
"26 million for 6 years. That’s on Bregman and Boras . That was a great offer," another wrote.
"Offer was more than fair," one said.
"They’re playing a waiting game while the team has no time to wait around 🤷‍♂️," another added.
"If Bregman wanted to be an Astro, he would've already signed. Good riddance. Time to move on," a fan commented.
"I’ve (almost) moved on emotionally from Bregman and Tucker; my question is are the Astros still pursuing the SANTANDER??," another Astros fans want to know an update on another star.

Insider reports Mets' continued interest in Alex Bregman

If not the Astros, the third baseman might be heading to the Queens, where money no longer is an issue. According to Mike Mayer, the Mets are monitoring Bregman's market and are interested in acquiring the third baseman.

The only problem with the potential move is that the Mets have Mak Vientos to play third base. However, as the Mets need an answer for second base, Bregman could change position from hot corner to midfield.

Moreover, if the team is unable to bring back first baseman Pete Alonso a potential scenario could emerge where Bregman plays third and Vientos shifts to first. With several position players landing deals last week, an imminent signing of Alex Bregman could be around the corner.
