After his World Series-winning campaign, LA Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes is spending quality time with his wife, Nicole Barnes, and their son Royce. The couple got married in 2018, and the family expanded from two to three when they welcomed Royce in February 2021.
Barnes played backup to Will Smith in the Dodgers depth chart last season. In 54 games, Barnes batted .264 with one home run. Even in the postseason, Barnes got limited opportunities and made one appearance, which was in the NLCS as a defensive replacement. For the 2025 season, the Dodgers have picked up his $3.25 million contract option.
On Wednesday, Barnes' wife, Nicole, shared adorable photos of their family from a beach. Their son Royce seemed to enjoy his time, playing with the clay while their parents cherished the moment.
"Joy of our lives," Nicole wrote in the caption.
The post elicited reactions from many of Austin Barnes' teammates and their partners.
"I need a wallet size pic of every single one of these please!! 😍," Corey Seager's wife Madisyn reacted.
"BRB picking my jaw up off the floor!!!!" Chris Taylor's wife Mary reacted.
"Are you kidding me??? 😍," Will Smith's wife posted.
"Gorgeous, stunning, perfection," Tommy Edman's wife Kristen wrote.
Austin Barnes' family joined by Kike Hernandez's family during trip to Disneyland
Austin Barnes and utility man Kike Hernandez have played several seasons with the Dodgers. This has led to their respective partners and even their kids, who are almost of the same age, spending time together.
A couple of weeks ago, Barnes posted photos on Instagram from their time at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The Barnes family was joined by Hernandez, his wife, Mariana Vicente, and their daughter Penelope Isabel. Penelope was born in January 2021.
While Austin Barnes is returning to Los Angeles in 2025, there's uncertainty about where Kike Hernandez is heading. The utility man was a key asset for the Dodgers in the postseason, and he lived up to certain moments, like in the World Series Game 5's pivotal fifth inning, where his innings-leading hit turned the matchup against the New York Yankees on its head.
Hernandez batted .294 with 15 hits, two homers, six RBIs and 11 runs scored in 14 postseason games in 2024. It remains to be seen whether he returns to Chavez Ravine or signs somewhere else in free agency.
