Next Thursday, approximately 200 million Americans will choose between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election. Apparently a statistical tie, some baseball fans are using the historical record to project the outcome.
On October 30, the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees by a score of 7-6 to win the World Series. Their first since 2020, the last time that LA won the World Series, Trump would go on to lose the election to then-VP Joe Biden a week later.

"The last time the Dodgers won the World Series, Donald Trump lost the presidency one week later." - Nathaniel Rakich
After one fan took to X to draw comparisons between a Los Angeles Dodgers World Series win and a Donald Trump loss. Judging by the comments, most fans appear to be hoping for a similar result to 2020.
Former president Trump is no stranger to MLB. In 2021, Trump drew criticism after a video captured him doing the "Tomahawk Chop" during the Atlanta Braves' World Series run. A polarizing figure to be sure, the 78-year-old billionaire provoked some strong feelings among some more commenters.
"Man Yankees fan here , but if this repeats , ima call it a win" - claimed a fan
"As a Yankees fan, I’ll take that deal." - echoed another
Team from California just beat the team from NY." - came another jab
Although there was plenty of dissent, Donald Trump also boasts plenty of baseball fans among his supporters. Plentiful too were the comments dismissing the observation, with some repeating Trump's claim that massive fraud led to his opponent winning in 2020. In this vein, some likened the "cheating" Harris campaign to the Houston Astros of 2017.
"He lost the same way the Dodgers lost to the Astros in 2017." - commented a fan
"Stolen elections don't count as a loss he never conceded" - claimed a supporter
"Hold your breath. Not looking too good for the commies this time." - was a final snark
Donald Trump remains silent on Dodgers' World Series victory
A native of New York, Trump did not remark on the Dodgers' World Series win. However, Vice President Kamala Harris posted on X after the win, telling LA:
"Your dominant play this season brought joy to millions of fans around the world – including @SecondGentleman"
Set to be an election for the ages, history may be poised to repeat itself in more ways than one, or go the other way completely.
