Baltimore Orioles fans had high expectations for their team entering the wild-card games after leading the AL Wild Card standings. With 91 wins and 71 losses, the Orioles were five games ahead of the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers for the top spot.

However, fans were left heartbroken as their playoff dreams came to an end following a sweep by the Kansas City Royals. The Royals won 1-0 and 2-1 against the Orioles to advance to the ALDS.

Orioles fans were disappointed by how the team's promising 2024 season concluded.

“Fire the hitting coaches,” a fan said.
“What a hopeless season. What a waste. What a shame. This team is not going anywhere unless there's a change at manager. Bring in someone who has done it before; preferably several times,” another fan said.
“Hopefully the front office will wake up and realize you can’t field a team of young players and rejects.” another fan wrote.

Many other fans continued to react with some blaming the Orioles manager Brandon Hyde and the coaching staff for their loss.

“Hyde and the entire coaching staff should be fired before they leave the stadium,” a comment reads.
“Same thing as last year,” another comment reads.
“What a hopeless season. What a waste. What a shame. This team is not going anywhere unless there's a change at manager,” someone wrote.

It marked the second straight year that the Baltimore Orioles were eliminated from the postseason without recording a victory.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde reflected on their wild card games and playoff elimination

The Kansas City Royals' pitching staff kept the Baltimore Orioles scoreless in their first wild card game on Tuesday. In the second game, the Royals' pitchers allowed only one run to Baltimore.

Discussing their loss, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said (via MLB.com):

“We are very disappointed, pretty frustrated after those couple games. But give all the credit to Kansas City cue and his staff. Their players, that’s a first class organization over there. They played really well. They pitched to us incredibly well scored one run in two games so give them a lot of credit. They played better than us these two games.”

The Orioles' only run in Wednesday's 2-1 loss came in the sixth inning when Cedric Mullins hit a 398-foot homer. The Kansas City Royals are now scheduled to face the New York Yankees in the ALDS on Sunday.
