Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora was ejected from the game against the Minnesota Twins today, the first of a doubleheader, in the top of the first inning. With the third batter up to the plate, Cora was incensed by an interference call that pushed Byron Buxton, who would've been the go-ahead run, to third base.
He came out angrily and talked to umpires before getting ejected. He then went on one of the most incredible manager tirades seen in modern baseball. It sparked a lot of fan discussion, over both the call and the reaction from Cora.

"I’ve been watching baseball long enough to know that he should have taken that base and thrown it across the infield," one joked.
"Too little too late.......needed to happen a few games after the all star break...," one said.
"Love when MLB managers don’t know the rules. Cora just wanted to watch football and enjoy Sunday dinner at home. Can’t blame him," another laughed.
"That's my f*****g manager, p***y a** umps," another angrily said.
At the time of writing, the Red Sox held a three-run lead in the third inning, with all runs being scored after Cora left the game.
Boston Red Sox respond to Alex Cora's outrage
The Boston Red Sox saw how their manager went to bat for a perceived slight on the part of the umpires, and they responded. As emphatic as Alex Cora was that they had gotten it wrong, his team responded perhaps more emphatically.
They had to dodge some danger, though, as Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis walked to load the bases. A strikeout and a pop-out ended the threat and ensured the controversy didn't lead to a run.

The offense came alive after that too. Romy Gonzalez beat out an infield single before Masataka Yoshida singled him over to third.
Trevor Story struck out but Triston Casas came to the rescue with a massive home run. His three-run blast traveled 400 feet at 106.7 miles per hour and it gave the Red Sox a significant lead.
Cora's ejection might have cost them a manager for the rest of the game, but it seems to have inspired a team that is barely clinging to life right now. They trail the Twins, whom they're beating now, by five games with eight to play in the wild-card standings.
