New York Mets infielder Jose Iglesias will be on the microphone at the upcoming Home Run Derby contest in Texas on Monday. The seasoned shortstop will perform his hit track “OMG” at the event.
Earlier this month, the Mets shortstop captured hearts through an infectious hit titled "OMG," which he composed under the name Candelita. While talking about his performance at the game in Texas, he said:
"I got a privilege to make a few All-Stars as a player and now as a singer, so I am very hopeful about it. Thank you for the invitation and I will be heading over after the game," Iglesias said.
Jose Iglesias' song has become a cultural phenomenon, drawing fans in droves and even reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Digital Song Sales Chart. This catchy tune has been turned into an anthem for the Mets and their passionate fanbase.
"Mets all day long... There is no 'OMG' without the Mets," said Jose Iglesias
When asked about his prideful moment, he firmly chose the playoff contention of the Mets over his music success.
As the Mets continue to push for a playoff spot, Iglesias' support and enthusiasm for the team are evident both on and off the field.
Jose Iglesias surprises young fans with live performance of his hit single
At Mr. Met's Kids Club, Jose Iglesias surprised everyone as he decided to sing his hit song “OMG” at Citi Field.
The Mets' star and budding musician had the kids vibing to the song. Iglesias’ infectious energy had the audience sing along to his song as well.
The Mets, too, have been energized by this song on the field, with them going 7-3 in their last 10 games. Just ahead of his song release, the club crossed the .500 mark and now they stand in contention for a Wild Card Spot with their 49-46 record.
