On Saturday, Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees matched up with the Toronto Blue Jays for the third game of their four-game series. Toronto got the better of New York on Thursday, but the Bronx Bombers evened up the scores on Friday.
On Saturday, Toronto struck first, thanks to a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. two-run homer and an Alejandro Kirk RBI. However, Judge cut into that lead in the fifth inning with his MLB-leading 80th RBI of the season.
Judge singled to center field, scoring Anthony Volpe and bringing his team within two runs. He has continued to stay hot while his team has started to falter.
Judge has been one of the hottest hitters in the league, even after starting the season on a cold streak. Not only does he lead all MLB hitters in runs batted in, but he also is the leader in OPS and home runs.
"I suggest to clone Aaron Judge" - one fan said.
"The sure offense on the team" - said another.
"80 RBIs before July, woah woah and more woah" - said another.
Fans are in awe that their captain has 80 runs batted in before hitting the month of July. He's on pace to crush the career-high he set in 2022 (131).
"Scheduled tweet" - said another.
"We are so blessed for this man" - said another.
"What a menace" - said another.
There's no denying that Judge has been vital to the team's success. However, he cannot be the whole source of the team's offense, like he was last season.
Aaron Judge has gone nuclear for the Yankees this season
Since the beginning of May, Aaron Judge has gone on an absolute tear at the plate for the Yankees. He's rivaling his historic 2022 season, where he won AL MVP and broke Roger Maris' single-season home run record.
He has the same amount of home runs through 80 games as he did in 2022 but has a better batting average and more runs batted in. Judge can nearly do nothing wrong with the bat in his hand at this point.
This is the main reason why the slugger led all other MLB players during Phase 1 of the All-Star voting. He guaranteed his starting spot and will run out there for the seventh time in his career.
