Kansas City Royal superstar Bobby Witt Jr. will have an opportunity to etch his name in the history books. The ultra-talented infielder is slated to participate in this year's iteration of the Home Run Derby, which will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
For decades, the MLB Home Run Derby has been one of the most anticipated events of the All-Star break. Fans have continually tuned in to watch the likes of Mark McGwire, Josh Hamilton, and Giancarlo Stanton put on epic displays of power as they launched home run after home run. Now Bobby Witt Jr. will have the chance to join them in the all-time derby ranks.
The All-Star shortstop reflected on his first-ever home run in a hype video announcing his participation. Witt Jr. was asked about the first time he ever hit a home run over the fence in his life.

"I think I was nine, in Flower Mound, Texas," he replied in the video.
Now, the Royals star will have the opportunity to showcase his home run power only 30 miles away from the place where he hit his first homer. While Bobby Witt Jr. might not be the first name that fans think of to take part in the Home Run Derby, he was born and raised in Colleyville, Texas, which is just down the road from the Texas Rangers stadium where the event will be held.

The Kansas City Royals superstar will not be the only first-timer making his Home Run Derby debut this year as he will be joined by a few other talented infielders from across the league. Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles and Alec Bohm of the Philadelphia Phillies will also join Witt Jr. in Texas.
