Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has been a man on a mission this campaign. His offensive productions have been off the charts, not only amongst his teammates but in the National League as well.
In his most recent at-bats in the series finale against the Kansas City Royals at Dodger Stadium, he smashed two home runs and drew a walk in four at-bats on Sunday.
In a postgame interview with Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA, Shohei Ohtani was asked about his recent hits during the games, which have resulted in a massive uptake in exit velocities, and how his swing helped him crush two home runs on Sunday. Ohtani said:
"I have been working on it everyday to try to make my swing right. So, I am glad that things are working out the way I am hoping."
Next, Shotime was asked about how he felt about the Royals' starting pitcher, Brady Singer, whom he has faced in the past, Ohtani said:
"It's overall really good pitching, good tempo. So, I try to make the best I can with the opportunity that was given."
Watson then asked Ohtani about Tyler Glasnow's amazing start, which helped set the tone for the Dodgers bullpen to shutout the KC Royals in the series finale on Sunday, Ohtani said:
"Yes, he [Glasnow] was absolutely fantastic"
Finally, Shotime reflected on the current situation of the Dodgers roster after injuries to two important players Mookie Betts and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, he said:
"There's been scary moments and regardless of the sitiations we have to all pick ourselves up and make up for the loss if their are."
Since signing the $700 million ten-year blockbuster deal with the Dodgers this past offseason, Shohei Ohtani has been a charismatic figure for the organization.
Shohei Ohtani's offensive numbers have been staggering in 2024
Shohei Ohtani has been exemplary with his at-bats this season with the LA Dodgers. He is batting with an average of .309, with 19 home runs, 46 RBIs, and an OPS of .976 so far this campaign.
Despite not being able to pitch this season, Shohei Ohtani is already paying handsomely for the trust instilled in him in his new role as designated hitter. His consistently positive at-bats and plate discipline will be key for the LAD in order to be hopeful for a deep postseason run in the 2024 MLB season.
