Vaughn Grissom has finally addressed the sloppy performance during his stint with the Boston Red Sox. Grissom has only appeared in 23 games, riddled with hamstring issues, during the winter and early June.

In those 23 games, Grissom couldn't prove his mettle since he only hit .148 with 3 RBIs. The Red Sox traded Chris Sale to the Atlanta Braves to acquire Vaughn Grissom, however, the offseason trade seems to be a loss for the team.

Speaking with Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, Grissom addressed his poor performance and showed how he never paid much heed to the criticism.

"I just want to play my game and if they like it, they like it. If they don’t, f*** it,” Grissom said. “I’m here for a reason. I’m sure there’s a next guy up if they don’t like it. That’s the ever-revolving door of baseball. Just trying to play my game and help the team win."

Red Sox manager Alex Cora holds strong belief about Grissom's comeback, as he talked about how he wants him to be healthy as soon as possible. Moreover, he also assured that he'd keep the second base secured for Grissom.

"It’s tough. But it could be worse. It’s one of those things where you have to trust the process. Everybody has their (bad) year. This is mine. In a way, it’s nice to get it out of the way, but it sucks. Not a lot of guys go through this game and don’t get hurt. Look at all of the stars that are down right now ... It’s part of the game," Grissom added.

Alex Cora is waiting for the 'real' Vaughn Grissom to show up

Red Sox manager Alex Cora remains optimistic about Grissom's return, but a firm timeline for his rehab remains unclear. Grissom is a bit frustrated, as he even revealed experiencing tightness during the Puerto Rican Winter League offseason.

Despite playing only 13 games in the winter league, the injury has hampered his ability to contribute in his first year with the Red Sox. Still, Cora wants to wait for Grissom to be back on the track soon.

"We actually had a meeting today with him,” manager Alex Cora told MassLive.com. “Kind of like the plan — what it’s going to be, what it’s going to look like in the upcoming weeks whenever he goes on a rehab assignment. We need this kid to get stronger. That’s the most important thing. I don’t think what we saw is the real Vaughn Grissom. I think there’s more there.”

Vaughn Grissom is constantly involved in batting practice and fielding practice. He also claims to be close to 100%, as of now.
