There is no denying that Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout is one of the best players of his generation. A three-time MVP, the hard-hitting outfielder has been a tremendous contributor across the board throughout his MLB career.
The future Hall of Famer has been a force at the plate since bursting onto the scene back in 2011. An 11-time All-Star and 9-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Mike Trout has accomplished nearly everything possible for an individual player. That being said, there is a glaring hole on his career resume: a lack of postseason appearances.
"Will we ever see Mike Trout make a run in the playoffs? @JeffPassan @DraftKings #DKPartner" - @PardonMyTake
Even though Trout has been an incredible talent, it has not translated to minimal success in terms of postseason appearances. While it's clear that the Los Angeles Angels organization has struggled to put the right pieces around the star outfielder, the narrative around the team's lack of postseason success falls toward Trout.
It's not only fans who are disappointed by Mike Trout having only 12 postseason at-bats in his storied career but his colleagues as well. Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh, who spent two seasons with Trout in Los Angeles, recently shared his disappointment over the superstar's lack of playoff experience.
"Brandon Marsh wishes we could see more of Mike Trout in October. “It hurts, man” - @ChrisRoseSports
"It hurts man," Marsh said on a recent episode of "The Chris Rose Rotation" regarding Trout's lack of postseason appearances. "You want to see him out there. You want to see him in the biggest games just because he's the biggest player out there," he continued, expressing his disappointment with the Angels superstar not playing October baseball.
Mike Trout may need to move to another team in order to return to the postseason
Trout's career is one of the most puzzling. A sure-fire Hall of Famer, the superstar outfielder's lack of playoff experience is one of the biggest disappointments in the modern era of the MLB. Although he has long been praised for remaining loyal to the Los Angeles Angels throughout his career, if he hopes to return to the postseason for the first time since 2014, he may need to look elsewhere.
The narrative behind Trout's loyalty to the Angels has shifted in recent years from commendable to frustrating. Many fans and analysts believe that Trout should look for a fresh start with a new franchise. The Philadelphia Phillies has been one of the teams most heavily linked to the three-time MVP. Only time will tell if Trout will request a trade, however, no one could blame him at this point if he did.
