Fans reacted as the New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge's postseason rut has been a topic of debate during his team's run in October. The AL MVP frontrunner seemingly broke the shackles in Game 3 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, only he didn't.
Iconic Yankees radio announcer John Sterling had excitement in his voice when Aaron Judge launched Dodgers starter Walker Buehler towards left field, only for the ball to land in Teoscar Hernandez's gloves.
"There it goes! Deep left-center field ... and Teoscar (Hernandez) is there to make the catch. Oh, did I get fooled on that? With that swing — and the ball majestically going to left field, I actually thought it was going to be out, and it wasn’t close.”
Fans reacted to Sterling's misjudged call, taking a swipe at the Yankees captain's remarkable postseason slump.
"Its's okay, John. Judge fooled us all this postseason," one tweeted.
"We all did again John," another commented.
"We’re suprised he made contact, understandable," wrote a disappointed fan.
Several Yankees fans expressed disappointed on Judge's lackluster offense in the Fall Classic.
"This is exactly why this series hurts so much. think of all the yankees legends that have been waiting for all these years. John’s reaction is a perfect example of the hope we have matched with the reality of the situation," wrote a vexed Yankees fan.
"It's ok. Judge fooled us all senses It's been so many strike out," wrote another fan.
"Just got excited he didn’t swing and miss," mocked a fan.
Aaron Judge gets honest on another quiet night after Dodgers take Game 3
Aaron Judge went 0-3 on Monday with one walk and a strikeout. He's 1-12 in the Fall Classic, with the Yankees losing the first three games of the World Series after a 4-2 defeat in Game 3.
Aaron Judge didn't mince words after another quiet night that saw the Yankees open their scoring in the very last inning of the game.
“I didn’t get any hits,” Judge said after the game. “I didn’t drive anybody in. I’ve got to get something done up there.”
The Yankees are just one game away from watching their World Series dream shatter against the Dodgers. Aaron Judge and Co. will hope to extend the series and avoid a sweep when they play the Dodgers in Game 4 at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
