It may be some time before Jasson Dominguez finds himself back in the MLB. Unfortunately for the top prospect of the New York Yankees, injuries have stalled his promising MLB career. The potential superstar outfielder suffered yet another setback as he has been working his way back to the majors.
The 21-year-old slugger has been working his way back from UCL surgery that he underwent last year, however, he finds himself back on the IL yet again. Jasson Dominguez has been placed on the Triple-A IL after suffering an oblique strain, slowing down his MLB return yet again.
"Jasson Dominguez has a moderate strain of his oblique. No timeline yet" - @ChrisKirschner
The hard-hitting prospect will now be sidelined for the foreseeable future. New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Dominguez has been dealing with an oblique injury, however, there is no clear timeline for when he could return to action.
"#Yankees Jasson Dominguez is injured and on the IL. Reports are he felt something in his side during a check swing and is getting tests run. The injury may have occurred during his last at-bat before leaving the game last night. You can see his side it bother him slightly after" - @Mike_Kurland
It's a disappointing injury update for the promising young star. Dominguez was tremendous during his first taste of MLB action last season. Prior to his UCL injury, Dominguez appeared in only eight games for the New York Yankees, however, he made quite an impression on the club and its fans.
Jasson Dominguez was tremendous during his brief stint with the Yankees last season
Over his eight-game major league debut, Dominguez posted a .258 batting average with four home runs, seven RBIs and a stolen base. This small sample size has New York Yankees fans anxiously waiting for him to return to the lineup given the tools that he possesses.
As Dominguez continued to work his way back toward an MLB return, the outfielder was impressive yet again. Through 23 games across three different minor league levels this season, Dominguez posted a .356 batting average with six home runs and 13 RBIs.
Yankees fans will have to wait a bit longer for the idea of him lining up alongside the likes of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. However, when that day comes, it could help put the Bronx Bombers over the top.
