There is no denying that the upcoming offseason will belong to Juan Soto. The New York Yankees outfielder has been sensational this season and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. There is a realistic chance that Soto will re-sign with the Bronx Bombers, however, it appears that the team and their fans will have to wait to find out.

Prior to Tuesday's matchup between the New York Mets and New York Yankees, Juan Soto was yet again approached with questions regarding his pending free agency. Jon Heyman of the New York Post asked Soto about his upcoming contract, his plans, and the Mets potentially offering him a lucrative deal.

Even though Soto has expressed his enjoyment of playing alongside the likes of Aaron Judge and the rest of the Yankees core, he remains coy about free agency. Soto, who is clearly trying to keep his free agency from becoming a distraction, essentially said that all contract negotiations and conversations will take place in the offseason.

"In the offseason, we will figure it out. I'll let [Scott Boras] do his thing," Soto told Jon Heyman.

A number of clubs have been linked to the three-time All-Star, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Juan Soto's contract is expected to be one of the richest in MLB history

Although there are question marks about where Soto will land in free agency, the one thing that is clear is the fact that teams will need to pay up to secure his services. How high could Soto's next contract fetch him? Some believe that Juan Soto could secure a deal that pays him as much as $50 million per season, which would make it one of the most valuable in MLB history.

It remains to be seen if Juan Soto will come close to the historic free agent deal that Shohei Ohtani signed this past offseason with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The two-time AL MVP signed a groundbreaking 10-year, $700 million contract, becoming the most lucrative in North American sports history. If he surpasses Othani or not, Soto is going to be a very wealthy man.
