On Thursday, major league stars Julio Rodriguez, Carlos Santana, Amed Rosario and Melky Cabrera were spotted courtside at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida.
The group turned up to catch some NBA action as the Orlando Magic took on the Portland Trail Blazers.
"got @mlb stars in the building ✨ 🔹 Julio Rodriguez 🔹 Amed Rosario 🔹 Melky Cabrera 🔹 Carlos Santana," the Instagram post featuring the quartet was captioned.
Though the Magic closed out the first quarter with the lead, things did not go as fans of the home side had hoped. The Trail Blazers turned the game around in the subsequent three quarters and ultimately registered a comfortable 101-79 win.
Heading into the clash, very few would have expected things to turn out as they did. The Orlando Magic is mid-table in the Eastern Conference with a 23-23 record. The Portland Trail Blazers, however, have fared much worse so far. They are 13th in the Western Conference with a 16-28 record.
Julio Rodriguez, Carlos Santana and Amed Rosario look forward to the 2025 season
At 40, former left fielder Melky Cabrera's playing days are behind him, with the 2009 World Series winner having played his last big league game in 2019. However, the new season is inching closer by the day for the other three big leaguers at the Kia Center on Thursday.
Julio Rodriguez, who slightly struggled with the bat for the Seattle Mariners in 2024, will be looking to improve in the new campaign. Rodriguez and Co. lost the AL West division title and qualification to the postseason to the Houston Astros in 2024, but they will no doubt be looking to get one back on their rivals in 2025.
For Carlos Santana, a much-anticipated return to Progressive Field is on the cards. Having been chosen as the man to replace outgoing first baseman Josh Naylor, fans will be hoping Santana will be able to roll back the years and endear himself to the Cleveland Guardians faithful once again.
Shortstop Amed Rosario also has a new beginning to look forward to. Having signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Washington Nationals in early January, the 29-year-old will be keen to establish himself as a regular in Dave Martinez's daily lineup, having been a bit of a journeyman in 2024, spending time with three different organizations over the year.
