When it comes to LA sports, Freddie Freeman and LeBron James qualify as A1 entities - especially in the current climate. Recently, the NBA icon took to social media to extol the Dodgers first baseman.
In Tuesday night, Freeman became the first player in history to homer in six consecutive World Series games. On the heels of the first inning two-run shot, James took to social media, claiming "we are not worthy" in light of Freeman's heroics.
"FREDDY FREEMAN WE ARE NOT WORTHY!!!!!" - LeBron James
Still in the early stages of the 2024-2025 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, James' strong endorsement of Freddie Freeman caused many fans to chime in and have their say. Reactions ranged from positive to negative, with much in-between.
However, not all of the reactions were positive. Many fans got on LeBron for failing to spell the Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman's name right. Other comments took aim at James, now 43, has taken some heat for a sluggish start to the NBA season that has seen the four-time MVP score a mediocre 20 points in 34 minutes so far this year.
"Learn how to spell his name right, Queen" - lambasted a fan
"Some people show up when it matters" - was another dig at LeBron
"Kiyan better than Bronny" - snarked another
While some were keen to use the opportunity to bash LeBron James, the vast majority of comments were echoing the praise for Freddie Freeman. On Wednesday, the Dodgers first baseman and his club will have a chance to clinch the World Series with a win over the New York Yankees.
"YK BALL GOAT FREDDY IS CRAZY" - came a comment
"Freeman's greatness just leaves us all in awe true baseball royalty" - was another remark
"This guy is pure gold on the field! We’re lucky just to witness his greatness!" - was a final voice of support
Freddie Freeman is ready for October glory once again
A World Series winner in 2021, Freddie Freeman is all but guaranteed to win the World Series MVP honors this season. According to the 35 year-old, it is all in the swing, as he told SI after Game 4:
"I’m thankful that it’s in a good spot right now when we need it the most. I’m just seeing the ball very well. You know, I'm swinging at the strikes, taking the balls … what you're trying to do every game. And thankfully I've been able to do it."
No stranger to peforming under pressure, watch out for the Yankees to pay extra special attention to Freeman's at-bats in Game 5.
