This season, New York Yankees fans are optimistic about their team's chances of winning the World Series for the first time since 2009. However, the media is still divided on the subject, with commentator Suzyn Waldman believing that the Houston Astros are still the best team in the American League.

Both teams have strong rosters as they gear up for the 2023 regular season. They seem to be the early favorites to win the American League.

During an interview, Suzyn Waldman was asked about New York Yankees' chances of "winning it all this year." She remarked rather bluntly:

"Is Houston leaving the league?

The New York Yankees and the Astros met in the crucial American League Championship Series last season, where the Yanks were swept by the eventual World Series winners in four games.

The New York Yankees' heavy power-hitting lineup could only muster nine runs and 21 hits in four games against the Astros pitching staff.

The Astros are well on their way to building a dynasty, having appeared in every ALCS in the last six seasons. They have won two of the four World Series they have played during that time period.

The Yankees, on the other hand, have yet to reach the World Series in 13 years. During that time, they have made five ALCS appearances but lost all of them.

New York Yankees' injury-ridden pitching staff a major blow to their title aspirations

The Yankees will be starting the 2023 season with a wounded pitching staff. Carlos Rodon was recently sidelined due to injury and reports suggest he might have to undergo Tommy John surgery, which may require him to miss the majority of the season.

Last season's deadline acquisition, Frankie Montas, also suffered a serious injury. He is expected to be out for the entire season due to shoulder inflammation. The Yankees have also been plagued by injuries to relievers Lou Trivino and Tommy Kahnlem, who will start on the injury list.

This is sure to test the Yankees pitching staff's depth as the season unfolds.
