MLB fans debate whether the St. Louis Cardinals can turn it around: "Helps when Arenado wakes up" "Do need to find a pitching gem"

The St. Louis Cardinals have not started the season as they would have liked. Going into Saturday, they sit in the basement of the National League Central with a record of 19-27.

Many fans around the league had them pegged as the division winners in spring training. Players like Nolan Arenado struggling at the plate and a below-average starting rotation hasn't done this team justice.

Slow starts are nothing new for this team, though. They have plenty of experience getting hot out of nowhere and going on a tear throughout the league. This is one baseball team that never seems out of the postseason picture, no matter how they look.

Fans took to Reddit to debate if St. Louis is just off to a slow start or if this is the team who will take the field all season long. The community seems split on their faith in the Cardinals.

"It helps when Arenado wakes up from his slumber and Gorman decides to start slashing" One fan mentioned.

"They need to find that pitching gem from the scrap heap that goes on a crazy run to fulfill the destiny" mentioned another fan.

Some MLB fans aren't counting out the St. Louis Cardinals just yet. Given the National League Central state, they haven't dug themselves too deep of a hole to climb out of. It might be a different story if they were in the AL East.

Some other fans aren't holding their breath. The pitching isn't there this season, and they have been struggling to get consistency at the plate.

While starting poorly, the St. Louis Cardinals have shown some life lately. They've won five of their last seven games. The team has seemed to gain momentum after moving Willson Contreras back to the backstop.

They have some series coming up that could help the team gain some ground in the division. They finish the series' final game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.

After that, St. Louis takes on the Cincinnati Reds in a four-game series. Those two teams have a nearly identical record. If the Cardinals can take that series, they'll gain some ground on the Reds and get out of last place.

This next week is going to be big for St. Louis.
