MLB insider believes manager Buck Showalter has challenging job following Steve Cohen's spending spree

MLB analyst Jon Heyman reckons New York Mets manager Buck Showalter has an enviable job to deliver success following owner Steve Cohen's spending spree.

Showalter is one of the most respected managers in Major League Baseball. He has won four Manager of the Year awards and established himself as a master strategist and leader who can get the most out of his players. Despite his impressive resume, the World Series championship is conspicuous by its absence.

Now, with owner Cohen's recent spending spree, the pressure is on Showalter to deliver the ultimate prize to the New York Mets. The Mets have always been a team with high expectations, but with Cohen's deep pocket and willingness to invest in the best players, those expectations have reached an all-time high.

Showalter faces an onerous task, as the expectations are sky-high, and the competition is fierce. Heyman said:

"It also adds to the pressure for Showalter, who has four Manager of the Year awards and is 23rd lifetime with 1,589 career wins (right between Hall of Famers Tommy Lasorda and Dick Williams), but has yet to reach the World Series, thanks to the quirks of the postseason."

Cohen's arrival as the new owner of the Mets has changed the team's trajectory. After years of mediocrity and disappointment, the Mets suddenly find themselves with a wealth of talent, from All-Star pitchers like Max Scherzer to power hitters like Pete Alonso.

With the addition of Justin Verlander, one of the best pitchers in the game, the Mets now have a choice between two three-time Cy Award winners to choose from on opening day.

Mets manager Buck Showalter has plethora of options in every position for upcoming season

As we head into spring training, Buck Showalter says that there's healthy competition in the team for starting spots.

The New York Mets have a wealth of talent in all departments, which gives them a lot of depth. They will start the MLB season as the favorites to win their division, and all the pressure will be on Showalter to get the best out of his talented squad.

However, the seasoned manager has the experience to handle this kind of pressure. Fans are excited about the team's potential and hope that Buck Showalter can lead the Mets to a World Series title.
