MLB insider implores Mets owner Steve Cohen to fuel World Series bid with more mega signings

Mass Vaccination Site Opens At Citi Field In New York City

Hosts of "The Show" Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman welcomed repeat guest and owner of the Mets, Steve Cohen, on their podcast on Wednesday, and suggested that he'd have to cash in a little more to mount a serious title bid.

"We hit Steve Cohen on every conceivable subject, and one thing we discovered: he’s a very funny guy. (Topics include: Diaz, Pete, trades, payroll, his 5 year promise, my questioning style, more)," Jon Heyman, Twitter

The trio chatted about a series of subjects that included Japan beating the USA in the WBC final, Ohtani vs. Trout ending, Edwin Diaz getting hurt, Cohen's spending, the payroll, his relationship with other MLB owners and the World Series timeline. It got very interesting when Sherman quizzed Cohen about the possibility of signing Ohtani in the upcoming offseason, and Soto in the next.

For somebody who understands what starpower can do to a franchise, Sherman begged to understand if Cohen would indeed have the willpower to do exactly what he wants. Cohen said:

"Well, like I said it's really hard to predict the future and I am focussed on this year. No, I am not going to worry about the next year or following year, and I will obviously take the recommendations of my baseball people. Right now I am focussed on 23, and I don't find it particularly productive to look out too much further."

Heyman intervened once Cohen finished and suggested that the New York Mets should go out and bid for the likes of Ohtani and Soto:

"My two cents is to sign Ohtani and sign Soto. Ohtani and Soto would look good in a Mets uniform."

Well, we can't disagree with Heyman here, and only time will tell us which superstar is New York bound next, with many predicting that Cohen is only getting started.

With Steve Cohen at the helm the Mets' future looks bright

New York Mets owner Steve Cohen has a clear path for the future and under him, the Mets have made significant investments in both technology and personnel to build a winning lineup.

With data being the future, the New York Mets added a highly skilled and knowledgeable staff of data scientists, analytics experts and performance specialists who are working together to build a winning team. Another important aspect of Steve Cohen's strategy is improving the farm system. The farm system is a crucial component of a successful baseball team, as it provides a pipeline of talent to the MLB.

All these changes are no doubt music to the ears of New York Mets fans, and spells an interesting future for them.
