Friday night will mark Cubs manager Craig Counsell's return to American Family Field in Milwaukee after inking a five-year, $40 million offseason deal to coach the Cubs. At the last meeting, Milwaukee took three of four fixtures.

On Friday, Jameson Taillon will start for Chicago. The 32 year-old appears set on putting up a career year, as the right-hander is now 4-3 with a 2.90 ERA across 68 total innings of work. In his last start against the New York Mets, Taillon registered ten strikeouts over seven innings, allowing just one earned run.

For the Brewers, manager Pat Murphy will be giving the nod to Colin Rea. Another arm who looks poised for a career season, Rea is 6-2 with a 3.62 ERA. In 13 career games against the Cubs, Rea has a 2.93 ERA and 14 strikeouts.

Bailey Ober vs Logan Gilbert

Bailey Ober will be representing the Twins tonight as they kick off a three-game road series against the Seattle Mariners.

Now in his fourth season pitching for Minnesota, Ober brings a 7-4 record as well as a 4.50 ERA to Friday's game. Currently boasting a strikeout per nine innings figure identical to last season, Ober's last game was a nine-inning complete game against the A's.

With a rotational ERA of just 3.41, the Mariners rank third in MLB in the category, and pitcher Logan Gilbert has been a massive part of that. Marcus Stroman vs Yusei Kikuchi

After a surprising 9-2 win over the New York Yankees in the series opener on Thursday, Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi will seek to gain his fifth win of the season.

Kikuchi, who attended the same Japanese high school as Shohei Ohtani, is currently 4-7 with a 4.00 ERA this season, and was chased after just two innings in his last start. In 14 career starts against the Yankees, Kikuchi owns a 3.08 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 14 outings.

Former Blue Jays first rounder Marcus Stroman will be facing off against his former team. Stroman has been one of the most dependable Yankees starters this season, and now owns a 3.15 ERA to compliment his 7-3 record.

Max Scherzer vs Albert Suarez

Veteran pitching ace Max Scherzer is set to make his second start of the season in a rematch of the 2023 ALDS as the Rangers take on the Baltimore Orioles.

Having missed the first three months of the season, the three-time Cy Young winner kept the Kansas City Royals scoreless over five innings on June 23. In 14 career games against Baltimore, Scherzer is 7-2 with a 3.17 ERA.

Albert Suarez will get the nod for the Orioles. On account of spending a good part of the past seven seasons in Asia, Suarez is pitching very well for an arm who had not seen MLB action since 2017. Now 3-2, Suarez' 2.70 ERA is among the best onthe O's rotation.

Martin Perez vs Charlie Morton

Martin Perez will start for the Pirates as they take on the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

Perez, who inked a one-year, $8 million deal with the Pirates this offseason, has struggled. In 11 starts, the All-Star is 1-3 with a 4.71 ERA. His MLB last start came against the Braves on May 26, when he injured himself after just three innings of work.

Charlie Morton will be making his fifteenth start of the season for Atlanta. Now 4-4 on the season, Morton has struggled to get his ERA number under 4.00. In his last start, Morton was clobbered by the Yankees, allowing five earned runs before being pulled in as many innings.
