DJ Herz vs Dylan Cease

Dylan Cease will start on Wednesday for the San Diego Padres as the Friars look to firm up the three-game sweep of the Nationals.

A former Cy Young runner-up, Cease has struggled in his past two starts. Now 6-6 with a 4.14 ERA on the year, the 28 year-old was chased after just 4.2 innings in his last start against the Miami Marlins, and has surrendered 11 runs in his past eight innings of work.

For the Nationals, rookie soutphaw DJ Herz will be throwing. Herz will be making his fifth start of the season, and he currently owns a 1-1 record to accompany his 4.50 ERA.

Luis Gil vs Sean Manaea

Tuesday's Subway Series game between the Mets and Yankees saw a total of six home runs, including a Grand Slam from Aaron Judge, but the Mets still won 9-7.

In the second and final game of the series, the New York Yankees will send Luis Gil to the dish. Although Gil has been one of the Yankees' top arms this season, hsi last outing was a brutal one. On June 20, Gil was chased after surrendering seven earned runs in 1.1 inning against the O's. On the season, Gil is 9-2 with a 2.77 ERA figure.

Carlos Carrasco vs Grayson Rodriguez

After being swept by the Houston Astros over the weekend, the Orioles will seek to avoid a similar fate in their series finale against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday.

24 year-old Grayson Rodriguez will be the one pitching for the Baltimore Orioles. In thirteen starts this season, the Texas-native is 8-3 with a 3.82 ERA. In his last start against the Guardians in September 2023, Rodriguez went five innings, striking out seven and allowing two earned runs.

For the Guardians, Carlos Carrasco will try and earn the sweep. The 37 year-old veteran Venezuelan stood tall in his last start against the Blue Jays, tossing six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out seven. Carrasco enters the game with a 3-6 record and 5.40 ERA.

Spencer Turnbull vs Tyler Holton

Spencer Turnbull will get the nod for the Phillies against the Detroit Tigers as the pair of teams play their series finale on Wednesday.

Turnbull, a member of the Tigers for five seasons, will face his former team. Now 3-0 with a 2.63 ERA on the season, this will be Turnbull's first start on the mound since April 30.

Leftie Tyler Holton will be pitching for the Tigers. The 28 year-old turned heads last season, pitching to a 2.11 ERA in 59 appearances. However, Wednesday will be Holton's first start of the season. He currently holds a 3-1 record and an ERA of 4.05.
