With the MLB trade deadline now just a day away, it is now crunch time for several clubs. While some high-profile deals have already been made, some of the league's top pitching arms remain free to be dealt.
In a recent piece for MLB.com, writer Anthony Castrovince put forward some predictions for what might happen before Tuesday's 6 pm ET deadline. Among the subjects of Castrovince's predictions were three star pitchers - Blake Snell, Garrett Crochet, and Erick Fedde - who Castrovince believes will be on the move very soon.

Despite pitching for the Chicago White Sox, MLB's worst team, Garrett Crochet has put up a strong season. Now 6-8 with a 3.22 ERA, the Mississippi native leads the AL with 160 strikeouts.
Although the 25-year-old's claims that he won't pitch in the postseason unless his new team extends his contract have scared some suitors, Crochet remains one of MLB's top arms. Castrovince predicts that he will be heading to the Dodgers as they work to overcome injuries to their rotation.
Another White Sox pitcher mentioned by Castrovince was Erick Fedde. Now in his seventh MLB season, Fedde signed a two-year, $15 million deal ahead of the 2024 season. Thus far, the 6-foot-4 right-hander has put up a career season, going 7-4 and pitching to a 3.11 ERA after spending the 2023 season in Korea. Castrovince outlined the Cleveland Guardians as top suitors for Fedde.

The final top starter considered by Castrovince is Blake Snell. The winner of the 2023 NL Cy Young last year, Snell entered a protracted free agency that bled into his performances for his new team, the San Francisco Giants, this year. Though Snell has pitched markedly better of late, he is still 0-3 with a 5.10 ERA on the season. In his piece, Castrovince predicted that Snell could be targeted by the Astros, who are newly arrived on the MLB trade deadline scene.
Garrett Crochet's demands may dampen free agency MLB suitors
Despite hitherto being one of the most desired arms in baseball, Garrett Crochet's demands of an extension have reportedly spooked some potential buyers. As Castrovince continued in his piece for MLB.com:
"Crochet has been linked to just about any team in need of starting pitching, but perhaps the July 30 Deadline will come and go with him still firing fastballs on Chicago's South Side."
Regardless of what moves come to fruition, there can be no denying that the next several hours will be full of intrigue.
