New York Yankees relief pitcher Wandy Peralta doesn't seem to mind the new pitch clock. In Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he struck out a batter in 20 seconds.
He ended up throwing an inning, but it was effective. He allowed no hits on three strikeouts. It was the perfect inning for a guy who started off spring training with some command issues.
Fans have seen both pitchers and hitters struggle to adapt to the new rules, especially the pitch clock. It's going to take time for players to get used to it as they've been playing the game a certain way their whole careers.
Once players get more adjusted to the new rules, fans likely won't even notice that they have been implemented. Until then, we're going to have some fans that, without a doubt, believe these rules are ruining Major League Baseball.
The sheer number of fans upset with the pitch clock is astounding, and they're loud with their reasoning.
Peralta's outing was comparable to somebody playing "MLB The Show" and skipping through all the commentary and cut scenes. Batters facing Peralta better be in the box and ready to go.
New York Yankees are getting outstanding play from their prospects
Like all teams, the New York Yankees are testing out their prospects in spring training. The two names that fans have been excited about are Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez.
Dominguez has hit .286 in seven at-bats. He also had a home run and a stolen base. Volpe has hit .364 in 11 at-bats. He also had a home run and two stolen bases. He's also flashed the leather at shortstop.
It will be interesting to see if these two get called up at any point this season.
