MLB fans reacted to Game 4 of the World Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers, which started with an unusual moment. In the bottom of the first inning on Tuesday night, Gleyber Torres hit a ball down the right field line.
Dodgers’ Mookie Betts caught it in foul territory near the railing, but a Yankees fan reached out and grabbed Betts' glove. Another fan also grabbed Betts' hand and wrist as the ball.popped out of Betts' glove.
The umpire ruled it as fan interference, resulting in Gleyber Torres being called out. The two individuals were later escorted out of Yankee Stadium.
Several fans reacted to the moment and shared their thoughts on X.
“Morons should be banned from every MLB stadium,” a fan said.
“Imagine spending $2000+ to get booted in the bottom of the first,” another fan said.
“Should never be allowed into another MLB game,” another wrote.
Many other fans continued to criticize the two fans:
“Good. They should have never done that to Betts. One guy grabbed his arm while the other is ripping the ball from his glove,” a comment reads.
“Should be banned for life. They can do that,” another fan said.
“Good! They deserved it. As a Yankee fan I am embarrassed to see this despicable behavior,” someone wrote.
Both Yankees fans and the team have yet to see a victory in the 2024 World Series, having lost the first three games against the Dodgers.
Yankees lead 6-4 against the Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series
The Los Angeles Dodgers started the game with a 2-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to Freddie Freeman’s 343-foot homer. In the second inning, the Yankees responded by scoring on Alex Verdugo’s groundout, allowing Anthony Volpe to reach home plate.
The Yankees took a 5-2 lead in the third inning when Anthony Volpe hit a 390-foot grand slam. In the fifth inning, Will Smith hit a 364-foot homer off Yankees pitcher Luis Gil, bringing in a run. Shortly after, Freddie Freeman’s force out allowed Tommy Edman to score another run for the Dodgers.
The Yankees extended their lead in the sixth inning with Austin Wells’ 384-foot solo home run. At the time of writing, the Yankees are leading the Dodgers 6-4 after seven innings.
