The Boston Red Sox have acquired left-handed pitcher Garret Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The White Sox are getting four players in return for Crochet. The deal has some Red Sox fans from voicing their skepticism about the trade.

“Most unserious franchise in MLB history. Not a dime will be spent until there’s a change in ownership,” a fan chimed in.
“Red Sox are not gonna be good man idc,” another fan weight in.
“Damnit. Now they’re gonna end up 3 games over .500 and miss the playoffs instead of going under .500 and missing the playoffs,” this fan commented.

Some fans are psyched about the deal.

“Sign Burnes now. If not then fire everyone idc,” a fan posted on X.
“Now we go! The Red Sox get their young ace for the future!” another fan remarked.
“This is huge and a slap in the face to the Yankees,” this fan wrote.

With Crochet in the fold as an ace, Boston will look to continue building its rotation for this upcoming season.

The White Sox are getting four prospects in the deal with C Kyle Teel, OF Braden Montgomery, IF Chase Meidroth, and RHP Wikelman Gonzalez all heading to Chicago. The prospects are at various development levels within the Boston organization, and could play a role for the White Sox down the road. Teel is considered the best overall propsect in the deal, while Gonzalez has become one of Boston's top pitching prospects.

Crochet made 32 starts last season, posting a 3.58 ERA in 146 innings. He struck out 209 batters and allowed 33 walks. While there may be questions about his durability, Crochet’s ceiling is high.

It’s worth noting Crochet is scheduled for free agency in 2026. However, Crochet is eligible for arbitration in 2025, which could lead to a hefty raise from his league-minimum salary from last season.
