The New York Mets have been trending lately. After reaching the NLCS, the front office revamped the roster in the hopes of taking the next step in 2025, with their most notable move being the signing of Juan Soto.

The superstar outfielder signed a 15-year, $765 million deal to join the New York Mets, making it the most lucrative contract in MLB history. While Soto's run with his new team might be must-watch television in 2025, the team's alternate jersey reveal has not been met with as much enthusiasm.

The New York Mets unveiled their alternate jersey for the upcoming season, which has received underwhelming response from fans. Fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts after the all-blue and orange jersey images were released. It's safe to say that a section of the fans were not too pleased.

"My 8 year old brother could’ve designed something better" - One fan posted.
"Not really crazy about it. It is so very ordinary" - Another fan shared.
"Looks like Brooklyn Cyclones midsummer giveaway" - One more fan added.

Alternative jerseys have been hits or misses for MLB teams lately, with the City Connect uniforms being a central talking point among fans. While these particular alternate jerseys are not City Connect, they have received significant pushback on social media due to the rather simple design.

"Is Temu the team sponsor" - One fan shared on social media.
"I’m sorry, but these may be the ugliest jersies I’ve ever seen" - Another fan posted.
"Am I tripping or these jerseys look like soccer jerseys? Anyways, Juan Soto made Cohen had to go light on the spending for the uni’s huh" - One more fan added.

The New York Mets are still contenders to bring back Pete Alonso this offseason

While it may look odd to see Juan Soto donning the Mets' uniform, especially the new alternate jersey, it will be strange to see Pete Alonso rocking another team's gear. The hard-hitting first baseman remains one of the top free agents on the open market, and even though he has received interest from several clubs, there is a chance that he will return to the Mets.

There has been interest in a reunion between New York and Alonso; however, the two sides appear to be playing a game of chicken to see who budges first. Alonso has reportedly been willing to sign a short-term deal with New York, but the salary and terms of the deal have yet to be agreed upon. The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels have also emerged as serious contenders.
