Wade Boggs shocked the world by revealing a cancer diagnosis on Saturday. The MLB Hall of Famer has come down with prostate cancer and took to X (formerly Twitter) to let everyone know that he is keeping positive and believes he's going to defeat the illness.
The MLB legend with over 3,000 hits said:

"I’ve never been a goal oriented person but with the strength and support of my family and my faith in God I’m going to ring that damn bell."
It's a dark moment for the former player who played for three teams: the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. Fans from those teams and across the MLB came together to wish him well and offer support in the replies.
"Very sorry to hear this… just finished treatment for my second cancer go-round, myself… and learned - again - how resilient and goal oriented I can be… YOU definitely can," one said.
"Praying for you, Wade. Can’t wait to see the video of you ringing that bell!" another said.
"You will win this, Wade. God bless, God willing. Sure of it!" another added.
"Stay strong. I wish you the best and to a speedy recovery," one added.
Boggs was enshrined in the 2005 Hall of Fame class after a career of 3,010 hits, 1,513 runs, 118 home runs and 1,014 RBIs. He won the World Series once with the Yankees.
Wade Boggs' fellow HOF class member recently beat prostate cancer
Wade Boggs faces a long battle to defeat prostate cancer, but it's not a journey he is alone in having gone through. In fact, another member of the 2005 Hall of Fame class, Ryne Sandberg of the Chicago Cubs, just recently shared his defeat of prostate cancer.

Via the New York Post, he said:
"Rang the Bell this morning! WE did it, WE won! What a Dream Team, family, doctors, friends, nurses, fans who supported myself and [wife] Margaret through the last 8 months! We feel so blessed from all the love, prayers and thoughts and positive words that have come our way!"
Boggs now has the challenge to do the same, but he believes in his ability to fight this disease and come out on top.
