New York Yankees fans have been hammering the front office to make a switch at the shortstop position heading into the 2023 season. Isiah Kiner-Falefa manned the position last season but struggled both offensively and defensively.
The team has some exciting prospects that many believe could step up and be an upgrade to the position. Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe have been battling with IKF for the starting role in Spring Training.

It seems as if the Bronx Bombers made their choice. Oswald Peraza will be the team's Opening Day shortstop this season. Peraza got his cup of coffee in the majors last season playing in 18 games. In those games, he hit .306/.404/.429 with a home run and two stolen bases.
In the short time he spent with the Yankees last season, he flashed the leather, especially in the postseason. He made several highlight reel plays against the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the ALCS last season.
"Great news!" one fan tweeted.
"Volpe, Peraza, idc who. Just not IKF bro" said another fan.
This is like a dream come true for New York Yankees fans. With all of the young talent they have, they couldn't stomach another season of Isiah Kiner-Falefa at shortstop.
While some fans would have loved to see Anthony Volpe win the starting job, they're just glad it's not IKF. Some can see Volpe staying down and developing into the team's second baseman after Gleyber Torres' contract is up at the end of the season.
Oswald Peraza at shortstop makes the New York Yankees a much better team

The New York Yankees have a legitimate shot at reaching the World Series this year. Their lineup is stacked. They have a ton of offensive power and have one of the best pitching rotations in all of baseball.
Peraza gives the team some extra power at the plate. Kiner-Falefa was never known for having a ton of power. In his five seasons in the league, he has never hit more than eight home runs in a season.
Peraza is known for having power. He was described by scouts as somebody who hits the ball as hard as anyone in the Yankees organization. We'll have to wait and see if that power translates this season.
Making Peraza the starting shortstop gives them the best chance to win the American League East again.
