Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes was among the MLB stars who attended Saturday's BBWAA Awards dinner. It honors the best players and managers of the 2024 season.
This year’s event celebrated the 100th anniversary of the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Among the A-list attendees was Skenes along with his girlfriend Olivia Dunne. The couple rocked the event, showcasing their fashion sense and celebrity profile.
Before they arrived, Dunne made sure Skenes looked his best by fixing his shirt collar.
“Last night,” Dunne wrote on her Instagram Story on Sunday.
Dunne can be seen adjusting Skenes’ collar to make it fit perfectly beneath it. She made sure the collar and shirt were the right fit so they would look good under his jacket.
Dunne and Skenes turned heads at the event; however, his taste in fashion wasn’t the only reason for it as he was also among the players honored at the event.
Paul Skenes wins NL Rookie of the Year
The BBWAA Awards dinner was highlighted by two of the games’ biggest stars winning the AL and NL MVP Awards.
New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge took home the AL MVP Award while LA Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani was named NL MVP. Unfortunately, Judge and Ohtani were not in attendance.
Paul Skenes had an excellent 2024 campaign. MLB.com interviewed him following the announcement of his victory.
"I would like to clear the air on something, I know when the award was announced, my reaction wasn't as bubbly and ecstatic as some of the other people, but I am very excited and truly honored to win this award," Skenes said.
Luis Gil of the Yankees won the AL ROY. According to MLB.com, Skenes and Gil’s ROY awards marked the second time in the last 40 years that two pitchers won it in the same season.
On the pitching front, Cy Young winners Tarik Skubal and Chris Sale won the AL and NL pitchers of the year.
It was a fabulous night for those in attendance. Skenes took home a major award while in the company of his girlfriend. Skenes will look to follow up on his strong 2024 campaign with an equally impressive, or better 2025 season.
