Bryce Harper's wife, Kayla Harper, shared a photo of their son Krew on Instagram enjoying the All-Star festival in Texas just a few hours before the fan favorites from different teams across the league play in the Midsummer Classic at Globe Life Field on Tuesday.
She also posted photos of kids having a pizza party on the flight to Texas in her story, tagging Kristen Turner, wife of Phillies star Trea Turner, who also came to Arlington to support her husband appearing in his third All-Star game.
“Off to texas we go,” Kayla wrote on Instagram.
Bryce Harper is heading into his eighth All-Star appearance and second for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was the first player from the National League to be selected for the 2024 All-Star game after the Phase One voting, joining Shohei Ohtani, and Paul Skenes for the first time.
He suffered a hamstring injury last month while playing against the Miami Marlins. He made his comeback in last week's series against the Los Angeles Dodgers and has shown no signs of difficulty since then.
Bryce Harper looks forward to enjoying the Midsummer Classic
The Phillies made history this season by receiving eight invitations to the All-Star game. Similar to the Yankees’ Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper was the first to join the NL All-Star list, skipping the rest of the voting days after Phase One.
He is excited to enjoy a fun day with the rest of his NL teammates by competing against the AL counterparts tomorrow.
“Doing it every year, trying to do it every year, trying to get here, and be around the guys and be around the teams, you know, that’s what it’s all about, Having fun, enjoying it, taking it all in, having gratitude for that moment,” Harper said on MLB Network.
“It’s always fun for, you know, obviously the fans and stuff, but it’s fun for us as well and we enjoy it the best we can… whenever you are able to play in the All-Star game, it’s lots of fun to be around guys that you’re not around all the time and it’ll be a lot of fun to be out there and enjoy.”
Participants of the Midsummer Classic and their families have started arriving in Arlington, for the marquee event. The game will be broadcast live on FOX at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.
