LA Dodgers to give away special Shohei Ohtani and Decoy bobbleheads

The LA Dodgers announced they will be giving away special Shohei Ohtani and Decoy bobbleheads at Dodger Stadium on August 28. The bobbleheads will be handed out during the second game of a three-game home series against the Baltimore Orioles.

Ohtani's pet dog 'Decoy' is called 'Dekopin' in Japanese, which means flicking someone lightly on the forehead. The furry friend of the two-way ace is a Nederlandse Kooikerhondje. The bobblehead showcases 'Shotime' smiling in a Dodgers jersey while holding Decoy in his arms.

Decoy was sitting beside Ohtani on his couch when the announcements for the 2023 AL MVP were being made. Fans had started to speculate on the dog's breed and name. Ohtani eventually revealed both during the introductory press conference with the Dodgers after signing a $700 million, 10-year deal this past offseason.

Despite not being able to showcase his might from the mound this season, Ohtani has been exceptional with the bat since the onset of the current campaign. After a successful series against the Kansas City Royals, Shohei Ohtani carried the positive momentum into the three-game series against the Colorado Rockies at Coor's Field.

The two-way ace will not pitch until the 2025 MLB season after undergoing a surgical procedure on his right elbow in December 2023. He made a quick comeback from rehab to join his new ballclub and actively took part in spring training. His bat has not switched off since the opening day of the 2024 season.

Shohei Ohtani's hitting stats have been off the charts with the LA Dodgers in 2024

Shohei Ohtani's bat speed and barrel contact rate have been on point so far this season with the LA Dodgers. He has delivered on every penny invested in him this past offseason. The 29-year-old is batting .316 and has smashed 20 home runs and 49 RBIs this campaign.

Ohtani leads the LA Dodgers roster in most of the offensive stats this season and has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon. His health and form at the plate will be crucial for the Dodgers, who are chasing another World Series title.
